SSE has announced to return its 735MW gas fired power plant this winter to contribute towards safety margin over the colder months.  The Lincolnshire based plant will be ready to contribute with full capacity by mid December this year. As indicated by utility week in August 2015, UK generators could gain much profit from gas fired power plants. As per the planned strategy, Ferrybridge and Fiddler Ferry’s 1.5 GW coal power capacity would be decommissioned in next six months. So, SSE’s decision to bring gas fired power plants reflects its wider strategy to make a switch from coal to gas following the changing market conditions and policies.
